Creating a safe space for mental health – led by those who need it

When your head is full, where do you turn?

More than half of young people between 16 and 27 struggle with their mental health. But where do you even start when you’re not feeling okay? Finding the right support already feels like a barrier. Too formal. Too fragmented. And who truly gets you, without judgment?

Seven organizations (De Kindertelefoon, MIND Us, Stichting Mind, 113 Zelfmoordpreventie, Join Us, Transformers Community and @Ease) set out to change that. Together, we created In je bol: a nationwide platform where young people find reliable information, relatable stories and low-threshold support. Chat, call, connect – all anonymous, all at your own pace.

But we didn’t take the usual route. From day one, young people had a seat at the table. They chose the name, defined the tone of voice, tested the design. The result wasn’t a platform about them – it was one built from them.

A brand identity that feels like a safe space. Open, warm, free of judgment. Alongside the brand and platform, we developed a launch campaign and toolkit to put In je bol in front of the right audience. It gained widespread media attention and was officially launched by Queen Máxima.
